Common in North America. It became popular in Europe in the 19th century.
It is a large tree with a beautiful, dense, regular, conical crown. In our climate, after reaching the age of 30, it reaches a height of about 15-20 m. A fully grown tree reaches a height of 25-30 m, the diameter of the crown is up to 8 m. Trunk diameter – 1.2-1.5 m. The needles are 20-30 mm long, strong, not attached to the branch. A thick waxy coating gives the needles a light bluish tint. Pine cones are cylindrical, drooping, 6-12 cm long, 2-4 cm wide. The tree lives up to 400-500 years.
The wood is very soft and brittle, so it is not suitable for industrial use.
Light-loving, undemanding to soil and moisture. Grows well in urban conditions.
